Any student who has an interest in debating is able to be involved in the Debating SA competition. Debating SA is a non-profit organisation which promotes the educational benefits of debating across both state and private schools. Unley has been a part of this competition for a number of years and, depending on student numbers, we field teams across all year levels. Teachers volunteer to be coaches and students receive training from them and the debating association. Debates are held in the evenings over terms two and three at various central locations. Students have the opportunity to become adjudicators themselves as part of the debating association. The skills gained from involvement in debating are wide ranging and include the development of communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
