Humanities and Social Sciences

Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) at Unley High School incorporates the SACE learning area of Humanities and Social Sciences. HASS develops students’ capabilities in the areas of communication, citizenship, personal development, work and learning strategies.

Subjects offered include  Middle School compulsory units of work that incorporate history, geography, and citizenship. Optional subjects are offered in the areas of Business Studies, History, Geography and Studies of Asia. At Senior level, students may choose to study a wide range of subjects including Classical Studies, Modern History, Geography, Legal Studies Society and Culture, and Tourism.

Students develop research skills and use information technology and multi-media to engage in stimulating learning and production of work. HASS prepares students to be life long learners with the skills to analyse humanitarian and ecological issues, and to problem solve and plan for a sustainable and socially just future for all.
