At Unley High School, technology is used in teaching and learning to help students become capable, responsible and effective users of a range of digital tools. It also supports student learning, improves access to learning opportunities, and helps students connect with the wider community.

Unley High School has adopted a Managed Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Policy. From 2027, students enrolling in Year 7 and any new enrolments in levels 8-12 will be required to purchase a Windows device through the School Device Program Portal. These devices and mandatory configuration on them, will be managed by the School for the duration of the student’s enrolment.

This program will be introduced starting with each new Year 7 intake and all new enrolments in year levels 8-12 progressibly to replace any unmanaged BYOD devices. 

Current students in other year levels who need to purchase a new device must also do so through the portal. However, they may continue using their current device until it needs to be replaced. Please note that support for unmanaged BYOD devices will be limited.

Free Home Internet Access for Students

Free internet access is available to students who don’t have reliable internet at home.

There are currently 2 options for eligible families:

  • the department’s student home internet program
  • the Australian Government’s School Student Broadband Initiative.

Reliable internet access supports online study at home, for the purpose of extended learning. It also allows teachers to design more learning experiences that use digital technology.
