Sports

The Sports program at Unley High School is diverse and comprehensive, providing competitive and recreational opportunities for students of all levels. School sport aims to promote social inclusion and wellbeing among all students, and to contribute meaningfully to school culture and pride. Involvement in sport broadens friendship groups and provides opportunities to develop life skills such as independence, communication, leadership, team-building, commitment, effort and discipline.

  • Regular Weekly Teams (after school/Saturday mornings)
Sports are played weekly through various associations, with registration per term ranging between $60 and $100. Sports offer two age groupings, Year 8/9 and Year 10/11/12 (Open). Other sports are also available, and teams are nominated based on student interest and nominations.

Knockout Sport, Carnivals and School Sport SA Championships are run during school hours, with costs varying from $10-$30. Teams and competitors catch hired buses to and from their events/matches.
  • Knockout Sport run by School Sport SA is the state-wide elite competition, where State champion schools are crowned. Unley will enter teams depending on interest and ability
  • Unley also competes in several one-day Carnivals run by various sporting associations. These are dependent on student interest
  • There are also School Sport SA Championships, involving Athletics, Triathlon, Cycling, Golf and Tennis
National Championships
Unley have been long time participants of both the Australian Schools Basketball Championships and Australian Schools Volleyball Cup. These are week-long National tournaments held in December.
