Principal Update – Schools are Open from Monday 23rd November
The Premier today announced that schools and preschools will reopen to all students on Monday 23 November.
As a result Unley High School will be open and operating as normal.
We will not be offering an alternative home-based learning program.
As the Chief Public Health Officer said, just because the hard lockdown is being lifted does not mean that the risks associated with COVID-19 have passed. As a result we will minimise the number of people coming and going from our site.
Wherever possible, please drop and collect your child at the gate and maintain the appropriate physical distance from other adults.
We are waiting for more information on excursions, events like the award ceremony, Year 12 formal, Year 7 transition, sporting activities, and the use of masks. I will therefore send another update on Monday.
In regard to Year 11 exams we will change the original schedule to give students a full day on Monday to study. Mr Watts will email all Year 11 parents and students with the new exam timetable and relevant information.
Thank you for your support over the last couple of days. We look forward to seeing students back at school on Monday.

Principal Update Number 2 Wed 18 November
I have just received further information from the Department for Education (DfE). It clarifies a couple of issues.
Students of essential workers and vulnerable children will be able to attend school on Thursday and Friday.
A skeleton staff will provide supervision but not a learning program for the remainder of this week. If your child needs to attend, we will be here for them.
If you are an essential worker and need to send your child to school tomorrow please email your child’s name to INFO@uhs.sa.edu.au
The information reiterates that all students are to take home their laptops/devices, books and anything they need to continue their learning from home.
More information from DfE about learning programs will be provided early next week, as they work through the new COVID-19 Directions.
All South Australians are making sacrifices to ensure our community remains as safe as possible. We appreciate that this is a significant undertaking for you and your family.
Principal Update 18 November
I apologise to parents who received my first email update this morning. This supersedes that email.
Everyone will have heard the Premier’s announcement of a six day statewide shut down. As a result teachers will share the following information with students before they leave today:
- Everyone must stay home for the next 6 days
- Only one person per family may go shopping for the family, once per day. Also that person must wear a mask.
- Everyone must stay home. There will be no walks, fitness or training of any kind
- Students and teachers must take home their electronic device and chargers plus any books in readiness for the potential for learning to go online after Tuesday.
- I will announce via email to parents either a return to school or move to online learning on Tuesday in readiness for Wednesday.
- Year 11 Exams have been cancelled. If students have outstanding work please electronically submit to your teachers.
Thank you for your understanding in these unprecedented times.
